Who Leads Our Castle Rock Firearms Training?

Ragnar Tactical is led by Sgt. Graham Dunne, a Marine veteran with a 27-year police career. His professional background includes eight years as a SWAT officer and sniper, along with eight years as a full-time police academy instructor.

Sgt. Dunne has served as a pistol, rifle, and shotgun instructor since 1999 and founded Ragnar Tactical in 2002. He has taught firearms, self-defense, active shooter response, and tactical casualty care to thousands of civilians, military personnel, and law enforcement students.

His experience also includes service as a firearms and self-defense expert witness in federal court, competitive shooting, and professional instruction for students with widely different skill levels.

This background allows our team to explain not only what to do, but why a technique, safety rule, or legal consideration matters.

How Does Ragnar Tactical Prioritize Firearm Safety?

Safety is part of every class, every drill, and every student interaction.

Our students are expected to understand and follow the core Firearms Safety Rules:

  1. Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
  2. Never point a firearm at anything you are not prepared to shoot.
  3. Keep your finger outside the trigger guard until your sights are on the target and you are prepared to fire.
  4. Always identify your target and what is beyond it.

Students also receive course-specific guidance regarding firearm condition, ammunition, eye and ear protection, clothing, magazines, holsters, and other required equipment.

The purpose of this preparation is to create safe habits that students can continue using after the class ends.

Do Castle Rock Classes Include Live-Fire Training?

Our Level 1 handgun and concealed permit course includes substantial hands-on range training supported by classroom instruction.

Rather than firing rounds without a clear purpose, students work through structured drills involving safety, marksmanship, reloads, malfunction clearing, immediate threat response, and close-range skills.

Advanced, carbine, rifle, and other shooting courses also include practical range work based on the purpose and curriculum of each class.
